Giving Back To The Trucking Community In Albuquerque

(Greenwood Village, Colo. and Albuquerque, N.M.) – April 14, 2020 – 505 Southwestern® is saying “thank you” to the unsung heroes in the trucking community during the month of April by giving each and every driver that comes through their Albuquerque manufacturing facility a 505SW™ care package. The a 505SW™ team wants to show their appreciation to these essential workers who are making tremendous sacrifices to keep food on grocery store shelves -- including long days, challenging conditions, and time away from loved ones. Now more than ever, the daily sacrifices of the trucking community are intensified as basic services on the road have been limited- including closed restaurants and shuttered rest stops.

“We recognize drivers are the front line of the supply chain and their dedication keeps grocery shelves stocked and Americans fed during these unprecedented times,” said Rob Holland, Executive Chairman at 505 Southwestern. “The last few months have been challenging for everyone, and the daily work of a truck driver has only been intensified by this crisis.”

Each week 505SW™ sees approximately 25 truck drivers to its manufacturing facility. Last week, the team began handing out a care package to each driver that includes a thank you letter, a gift card, a variety of favorite 505SW™ products, and a recipe book from celebrity chef Eric Greenspan. The company plans to give away over 500 care packages over the next few weeks. A video of the care packages being distributed and interviews can be found HERE:

“Companies like ours aren’t able to offer the same hospitality to our truck drivers that we normally can, and their access to eating and lodging options has been vastly diminished,” said Jayson Davis, Plant Warehouse Manager at 505 Southwestern. “It feels good to offer them a genuine ‘thank you’ and token of appreciation.”

In March, 505 Southwestern announced that it has increased production by upwards of 50 percent across the two facilities in New Mexico, as a result of overall increased demand for its green chile, salsa, and sauce products. This is being driven by a consumer shift in purchasing to non-perishable food products which adds to the need for trucking services.

505 Southwestern, known as the craft beer of green chile and salsas, is among the fastest growing sauce and salsa brands in the country and the only nationally-distributed premium green chile brand in the U.S. Named for the area code of the city from which it derived, 505 Southwestern products originated in Albuquerque, New Mexico, in 1997 when local restaurateur Roy Solomon decided to jar his famous green chile. The company has seen unprecedented growth with 505 Southwestern products distributed in all 50 states as well as London.
